Weekend Update

Herein lies an update from our weekend:

  • Our dishwasher has been given us fits again. I found Sundberg Appliance by my house and they told me to clean out under the screen — that something was probably blocking the pump. Sure enough, I took about five orange seeds out. But it still wasn’t working right. It took a couple of weeks to make it back there, but I asked their advice again. They said it sounded like too much soap stuck in it. They advised running a load with no soap and no dishes, except 1 ½ cups of white vinegar in the top rack. And what do you know? It’s working great now . .
  • Leah was running with me on Saturday when I had to by the white vinegar and I was thirsty and I figured she was too. In front of the soda cooler at the front of the store, I asked her, “What would you like to drink?” She looked and said, “How about water?” I don’t usually buy bottled water but what can I say? “Are you sure you don’t want pop instead?” I mean, the kid wants water and not pop for crying out loud! So, for the first time in ages, I bought a bottle of water.
  • Today was the first time this year we actually grilled out. Way past time, in my opinion. I got some rib steaks up from the freezer and Gina then confided in me she bought some asparagus, not knowing what she was going to do with it. So we had grilled steak and asparagus for Sunday dinner. And it was delicious. And thus begins the grilling season at the Hostetler house.
