Look, The Hostetler’s Are Back!

Leah point at something in the sky

Things have been quiet on my blog and on Gina’s because we have been away. Another vacation, if you can believe it. The Black Hills were are destination this time. We got a five-bedroom cabin close to Deadwood and had a great time there.

Some random notes:

  • Geocaching Yes I went and got quite a few. I took many of my in-laws with me and they weren’t too weirded out by my strange addiction. I didn’t get as many as I wanted, but now I’m getting very close to 100 finds — the first real milestone for a geocacher.

  • Siteseeing We tended to stay away from a lot of the tourist traps that inhabit this area (we didn’t even spend much time in Deadwood itself). We did see Mount Rushmore but also took a lot of pictures by Bridal Veil Falls.

  • Fishing Leah caught her first fish at Iron Creek Lake! Of course, she ran when I pulled the fish out of the water. The ironic thing is that now she has caught more fish than I have!

Leah isn't sure about her fish

  • And, yes, we stopped at Wall Drug, got some not-quite ice water, and took a few pictures.
