The Busyness Around Us

My loyal reader is restless (although he refuses  to update his own blog)  but, as always,  if I’m not busy blogging it must mean I’m busy elsewhere.  And it’s true now:

  • We’re heading on vacation in a few days.  Good times will be had by many. I’m ready for a little R&R.  But the pre-vacation work is getting to Gina.
  • The Hostetler’s finally met Nubi’s on Friday night.  Leah was quiet and calm, as she usually is when she meets people for the first time.  Little do they realize that when she warms up, that she never stops moving.  And never stops talking.
  • I worked a lot this weekend on the super-secret project.  The Tech side is looking good — but the rest is up to other people.
  • I came to work on Monday and found myself in a firestorm.  Something Happened in the application and they needed it addressed.  I looked all day and couldn’t find what happened.  And then I put back in an old revision and then it worked.  I figured out what changed — it was months ago — and put the old code back in.  All Hail Subversion! I spend my morning coming up with a script to automatically make a Subversion branch for each code-base that goes into production. So next time I don’t have to waste a whole day searching for the change.
  • I’m supposed to be reading and giving feedback on the Beta of Jeremy’s book but I haven’t had a lot of time to dedicate to it.  But what I have read is very good.  And his wife Kate did a great job on the cover.
  • On traffic  . . . the number of people visiting this blog and slowly and steadily climbed over the past few months. I really have no idea why.  The number one search for this page is for Kenmore Elite Dishwashers, which isn’t really what this site is about.  As web site traffic patterns fascinate me, that isn’t what this site is about –  I just have it to talk about things that interest me, to give updates, and to talk about my technical discoveries.

(Current iPod Track: “I’m Always The One Who Calls” by Pedro the Lion.  Somewhat fitting, eh Nubi?)

  1. Nubi Says:

You need a vacation, brother. Mexican lions, Pedro or otherwise, is just a tad obscure, even for me!

Thanks for updating the site though. How is your dishwasher going?
