My loyal reader is restless (although he refuses to update his own blog) but, as always, if I’m not busy blogging it must mean I’m busy elsewhere. And it’s true now:
We’re heading on vacation in a few days. Good times will be had by many. I’m ready for a little R&R. [...]
I spent my morning fixed problems with JavaScript. By “problems” I mean “fixing code that three or four iterations of developers have been too lazy to do correctly.” Here is simplified version of a particularly stupidly-written function that I uncovered:
function addItem(f,addtype) { if (addtype=”ab”) { f.hideme.value=”; functName1(); } if (addtype=”bc”) { f.hideme.value=”; functName2(); [...]
My co-workers have been buzzing about FindBugs for few weeks and it seems cool in theory. Well, our Lead sent an email out yesterday that we all need to start using it in our development cycle and, since I was waiting for other people to get back to me, I hesitatingly gave it a try.Hesitatingly, [...]
I thought Gina was going to post this, but since she hasn’t yet, I’ll beat her to the punch.
On Friday night Gina, Leah and I went to Denny’s. Why? Because we had a coupon. Several, in fact, but we were only going to use the buy-one, get-one coupon. There were others — free appetizer, 20% [...]
I’ve heard rumors of this before, but didn’t quite grok it. And now that I do, it’s very cool yet very strange. To demonstrate:
js>var n = “1″ js>1==n true js>1===n false
Yep, n is both equal and unequal to 1. But what’s up with that === operator? As many of you know, JavaScript is dynamically typed. [...]
Random Things that have come to my mind as the day has gone on:
It’s a strange but satisfying when your iPod goes from Eminem to Merle Haggard. And then Radiohead comes on a little later it’s just even more satisfying.
Google started tracking my searches on Apr [...]
As usual, it’s quiet around here because my life hasn’t been so quiet lately. Lots happening at work and lots happening at home. And I still don’t have my lawn mowed.
And one of my things I seem to be lacking on blogging is JavaScript. But that doesn’t mean I haven’t been using it! No, I [...]
Scott McKnight hits things hard in this essay Getting the Gospel Right if we preach a gospel that is entirely focused on “getting right with God” but which does not include in that presentation that God’s intent is to form a community (the Church) in which restored persons live out this Christ-shaped and Spirit-directed [...]
Tonight I have my last duty as a deacon at church. My replacement has been voted in and tonight we are having our first-annual retreat as kind of a hand-off to the new and a send-off to the old. Maybe that send off will be a drop-kick out the door, I’m not sure.It’s been an [...]
