RMS speaks on the AI lab
I love reading tales of hacker folklore and I just stumbled upon this piece of RMS talking about the AI lab at MIT. Yep, it’s slanted but it’s a good read. It’s also a bit over 20 years old.
When I read thing like this, I’m jealous that I wasn’t involved in anything like the AI lab or was around anything lke that[1]. You learn a lot about RMS in this. Yes, he’s an anarchist but the thing he complains about are things that I complain about. Makes me wonder how similar I am to RMS. Now that’s a scary thought. [1] Oddly enough, I was involved in something that had the potential to be similar. Someday google around for the history of Mid.net.
