Everyone Remembers Where They Were

On Sept 11, 2001 I was on my second day back at ACI after working for ten months at a dot-com. I saw on Slashdot that a plane had hit the World Trade Center. Not many details, but I just thought it was a dumb private pilot. When we heard that a second plane had hit, I got an ugly pit in my stomach. When we were walking over to the fitness center to watch CNN on the large screen, a friend at work said, “This is war.” I’m still not sure I believed him.

We saw the damage on the Pentagon from a third plane, and heard that a fourth plane was unspoken for. We watched Tower Two call without warning, and then Tower One. No one could believe that this happened.

As Gina and I watch the five year remembances on TV we still feel the same pit in our stomach and fear about what is to come. The In Memoriam: New York City documentary that is on HBO OnDemand was especially moving to us.

So this is my meme today — blog about what you were doing when you heard about the planes hitting the WTC or Pentagon.
