On the Bench Activities

Things didn’t work out for me at Union Pacific (i.e. contract problems) so my employeer, Bass and Associates have put me on the bench, which means they call me when they need me. So I’ve been working on stuff around the house.

Yesterday I mowed the lawn, which generally takes two hours if I bag it (which I did do). This morning, I stained some floorboards from the bathroom, cleaned up my shop area in the garage, hung a peg board which I’ve walked around for about a year, and worked on my garage door some. This afternoon I plan on registering the car at the DMV and running other errands. And who knows what tomorrow brings (expect I have to actually go to the office in the afternoon).

On the subject of staining wood, I have a trick that very few people seem to know about. Gina’s dad told me when I was going to start my last staining project to use lambswool instead of a rag. He gave me an extra sheet he had and it works wonderfully — you end up using a lot less stain and just the right amount comes out. I’ve talked to other people much more experienced at wood working than I am and none of them are familiar with it.
