NeoOffice for Intel

Tuesday, July 11th, 2006

The latest NeoOffice is now in public Alpha.  The nice thing about this release is that it support Intel-based Macs, so that is a good thing. This isn’t a full-fledged review, it’s more of a “I needed to write a quick letter, so I used it” type of thing.  The startup is slow, but after that [...]

Look up cache information with gpsbabel

Monday, July 10th, 2006

I tend search out my geocaches when I get a chance and keep them in a huge GPX file. When I want to get some caches in an area, etc., I use GPSBabel to query that GPX file. Groundspeak keeps tons of useful data and metadata in it’s GPX extensions that I like [...]

Yep, twice in one week

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Yeah, we updated the picture gallery again. This has basically everything that was left on the memory card — pictures taken just after our Texas trip to the geocaching adventure that Leah and I took last Saturday. There are also some good pictures from my parent’s farm and from Independence Day.

Nope, not a mistake

Jeremy told me that my Next Page/Previous Page wasn’t working. Instead of fixing the theme, I went back to WordPress Classic theme. I thought it would magically fix the PHP sessions errors on the bottom, but alas it didn’t. But the navigation is fixed.

On my todo list is to finally upgrade this [...]

Opera 9

Friday, July 7th, 2006

I’m not sure I can expand much on Opera 9 that this review doesn’t cover. It’s fast, it’s complete, it’s stable, and takes up fewer resources than FireFox+extensions. And I love it.

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

Blaine and I have been talking this week and then he tells me he put me on the schedule. Yes, I am doing a talk for the Omaha Dynamic Language Group on September 5. The topic is “Python and XML” My focus will not be on a intro to Python, but [...]

Huh? Where are the pictures?

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

So, my brother calls me last night. “What’s the link to your picture gallery? We would like some copies of some of the pictures when you were down here in April.”

“Huh, we haven’t put them up yet. But give me an hour or so.”

So thank my brother for kicking us in the butt. [...]

The Blogs keep rolling along

Thursday, July 6th, 2006

I get a blog and have it for a long time. Then my brother-in-law and his wife start one, to document this recovery. My wife gets inspired and starts one. Then two of my sisters-in-law both decide to start blogging. (Yes, I know that I’m such a trend-setter)

And, independent of all of this, [...]

My DX’ing past

Wednesday, July 5th, 2006

I was at my parent’s this past holiday weekend. When I go, I’ve been looking for a folder that I keep wanting to go through again. I started putting stuff in it when I was 10 or 11. Finally, not long before I left, I finally dug to the bottom of a [...]
