Python and XML — coming to a meeting near you

Blaine and I have been talking this week and then he tells me he put me on the schedule. Yes, I am doing a talk for the Omaha Dynamic Language Group on September 5. The topic is “Python and XML” My focus will not be on a intro to Python, but rather what Python can do for XML processing. Hopefully, it will whet the group’s appetite to learn more about Python.
This is the first talk I’ve ever given to group like this (though I’ve conducting hands-on training at work). So I’m excited about getting my feet wet in the informal language talk realm.
Now, I should get started sometime . . . .

Awesome news! I am looking forward to your talk! It can be a little nerve-racking getting up in front of a group of people and speaking, especially the first time. But, you know your stuff and I am confident that you will rock! If there is anything I can do just ask!

Since the Ruby on Rails talk, this idea had been bouncing around my mind. So I just emailed Blaine and offered it. I think Python and XML is a good topic — because XML can be horrible to deal with sometimes but I think Python has some good tools for dealing with it.
I’m not worried about the talk so much, but in trying to fill up an hour or so of time. But I have until Sept, so if I start now, I should be able to.
