Free WebDav!!
Nope, I’m not kidding. I found a blog mentioning the services of Box.net, which is offering 1 GB of WebDAV storage for free! I signed up and there doesn’t seem to be any hidden charges or restrictions or even strings attached. Of course, they have a pay service in which you can have more space and more functionality (ability to publicly link to files, several users, etc.) but if you just want some offline storage, then I’m not sure a better deal exists.
Hooking it up to a Mac is easy! The best way on Windows I’ve found is Novell NetDrive, which allows you to give your WebDAV a drive letter, as opposed to using Windows built-in web folders, which doesn’t. I grabbed NetDrive from here.
Disclaimer: Yes, I signed up as an afflitate, so if you click the link and sign-up, I will get a little pocket change. That said, I wouldn’t have signed up and recommended it if I didn’t think it was a great service.
