President’s Weekend

I spent the weekend in Denver with Gina, Leah, Gina’s mom and sister. And we took a friend of ours with us to see her brother. While there, we saw Gina’s brother and his family and I think a good time was had by all. A few highlights:

  • While we were there, Denver had record cold temperatures. This caused rolling blackouts (at Gina’s brother’s home), pipes breaking (including our hotel) and it caused me to only get one geocache while there.
  • On Saturday, which was the cold day, my brother-in-law twisted my arm to get me to New Belgium Brewery. Okay, he didn’t have to drag me too hard. It’s a great tour, and worth the drive from Denver. Unfortunately, all their guided tours were taken so we took the self-guided tour, which was still fun. And they still let us take samples. Because of that Abbey is now my favorite New Belgium brew. Does anyone know if they sell this in Omaha?
  • Leah was good throughout most of the driving. She had her movies, of course, and like everyone got tired sitting in the carseat. Only once did she let us know that she was tired of all of it. That was mostly because I had to stop to go to the bathroom.
