Review: Skipdoctor
I don’t usually do product “reviews” but this one is especially good.
My daughter likes to watch DVD’s and, in the process of opening up the case or getting them from the DVD player, she tends to scratch them a bit. One of her favorites was scratched so bad that it would skip a lot at the beginning and stop about two-third the way through. This cause strife.
I knew that there were repair kits but didn’t know anything about them — did they work well? Could you fix them again? I was at a local department store and I noted they had a “SkipDoctor” on sale. I bought it without doing any research — I figured I would try it to see how it worked.
The directions are a bit strange — wet the disc, put it in the roller, dry it, wet it again, put it back in the roller, buff with felt cloth and there you are. But it fixed the DVD very well — it doesn’t skip at all, let alone stop!
Reading the Amazon reviews, it seems you have to keep the sander fresh, which makes sense. I don’t expect this thing to last forever, but if it can save four or five DVD’s or CD’s, it will be money well spent.
